And so completes Year 2 in the Photo a Day Challenge. For those following this project on Smugmug, Year 3 starts tomorrow and will display in http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014.
For the last photo of 2013 I decided to head downcity for some street photography. As usual, I parked at the Roger Williams National Memorial and planned to do a loop through Kennedy Plaza. The loop, it turns out, was not necessary. As soon as I stepped out of my car, I was greeted by two tail-wagging dogs that barely reached above my ankles. They belonged to the gentleman you see in today's photo. I spent some time talking to him and photographing the dogs, but in reviewing the photos I realized that it was the portrait that told the story and it had nothing to do with the dogs. It was a fitting end to this year's project and an excellent lead-in to Year 3.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
