kannafoot > May 4, 2009Iron GratesI found this spot by accident, but I'm sure you know by now that I can't resist a window shot. It was the iron grating in this window that caught my attention. The stucco wall around it didn't hurt either. The building was once part of a mill complex in Providence, but it's now a lawyer's office.Window GratingProvidence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > April 16, 2009Textured ReflectionsHere's an interesting shot of some trees and bushes reflected in the window of an 18th century blacksmith shop on historic Great Road in Lincoln. The blacksmith shop is still in use as a cultural center depicting life in the 18th century.BlacksmithLincoln, Rhode Island
kannafoot > April 11, 2009Stone TexturesThis beautiful stone building was built in 1815 when the Industrial Revolution hit Smithfield, Rhode Island. The village of Esmond, which is part of Smithfield, was home to several large mills. Some of them are still in use as industrial buildings, while most of the others have been converted into condos. This stone building has seen it all, although it sits empty today.Smithfield, Rhode Island

kannafoot > March 25, 2009Window MosaicI returned to the John Hunt House and grabbed this shot of a large window on the mill next door to the house. It looks like most of the panes were replaced at various times creating an odd mixture of reflections. I also like the stone work on the walls, so there will likely be more shots of that in the months to come.John Hunt HouseEast Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > March 24, 2009Barred BarThis plain window, barred against intruders, catches my attention every morning on the way to work. I like the texture of the wall around it, and this morning it had a nice reflection of the rising sun hitting the house behind me. The building is "The Abbey", a bar within walking distance from Providence College. The AbbeyProvidence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > February 27, 2009BarredThere are a series of small very early 20th century storefronts in the Smith Hill section of Providence. This one is on Douglas Avenue. It has an old world color and texture to it. The bars on the window coupled with the red honor box in front contrast nicely with the bright yellow storefront. I opted to shoot this as a closeup on just those highlights. Maybe later this year I'll return and shoot the entire storefront. Smith HillProvidence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > February 14, 2009Lead WindowsI returned to the Eleazer Arnold House today to get a closeup shot of this beautiful 17th century style lead windows. The windows themselves were refurbished in the early 20th century, but are consistent with the style that has always been on this 1693 house.Eleazer Arnold HouseBuilt 1693Lincoln, Rhode Island
