kannafoot > June 8, 2009Gone Fishin'There were a number of folks out fishing off Crescent Park today. I would imagine the stripers are running right now, hence the number of boats. Crescent ParkEast Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > April 27, 2009India PointThe water was perfectly calm this morning so I stopped by India Point Park on my way to work to take this photo. What made the shot for me were the reflections of the boats and pier in the background, emphasizing the perfectly calm water behind the pilings. I didn't realize how dirty the sky looked until I processed the photo, though. That shot is out over the Port of Providence, and the smog over the city is obvious.India Point ParkProvidence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > April 23, 2009Painter's PaletteI swung by Bald Point on my way home today and took this shot of some darks at dusk. The colors on the docks and the reflections in the water remind me of a painter's palette. Bold Point ParkEast Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > April 8, 2009DawnI stopped at India Point again this morning for a shot dust after sunrise. You may recognize the three pilings in the foreground. They were Monday's subject, taken from a different angle.India Point ParkProvidence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > April 6, 2009Tri PolesThe forecast was for rain all afternoon today, so I took advantage of the dry morning commute and stopped at India Point Park on my way to work. There are a lot of nice photo opportunities there including these three pilings near the shore.India Point ParkProvidence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > April 2, 2009DismalIt was yet another dreary day. It was damp, cold, very overcast, and there was the occasional light drizzle. On a whim I went over to Sabin Point thinking I'd at least get some shots of gulls on the docks. Instead, I spotted this single boat moored in the river with a few ducks floating around it. The far side of the river was barely visible with the low cloud cover, and that added nicely to the dismal feel of both the day and the shot.Sabin Point ParkEast Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > March 31, 2009Waterfront PropertyThere are a few nice photos available from that old Red Bridge landing and here's the next one. The building on the opposite side of the river is built right where the Red Bridge used to terminate on the Providence side. The entire area's been developed now, though. kannafoot > March 30, 2009Locked in PlaceThis railroad bridge once belonged to the now defunct Providence Warren Bristol Railroad. The bridge connected the East Bay with the Northeast Corridor until the early 1950s when it was abandoned. It has been locked in that upright position for over half a century. As an added touch of nostalgia, this photo was taken from the East Providence side of what used to be the Red Bridge. The bridge was dismantled, but the road leading to it remains and ends at the banks of the Seekonk River and it's from that point that I took this shot.Providence Warren & Bristol Railroad BridgeEast Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > March 18, 2009"Heap of Rocks"This is the main clubhouse of the Squantum Association. In the Indian dialect native to RI, "Squantum" means "Heap of Rocks", and given its location on a series of rocky outcroppings in the Seekonk River it's a most appropriate name. The clubhouse in this photo was built in 1872 and is still in use today. The East Bay Bike Path now runs in front of the clubhouse. It was built over the old railroad bed that connected much of the East Bay with Providence. As much as the Association members dislike the bike path, it must be better than having a train pass by the dining room several times a day!Squantum AssociationEast Providence, Rhode Island
