kannafoot > June 3, 2009A Touch of IvyThis old abandoned house near me is now covered in ivy. I opted for a close-up of the side window with ivy surrounding it. There are quite a few more potential shots from this property, so expect to see more in the coming weeks.North Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > May 31, 200917th Century ChimneyI returned to the Arnold House in Lincoln for today's photo. This huge whitewashed chimney was built in 1693. The house is a stone-ender, so the chimney and fireplace take up one entire side of the structure.Arnold HouseLincoln, Rhode Island
kannafoot > May 20, 2009Cabin on the LakeThis is beautiful Squam Lake in Holderness, New Hampshire. There is a small secluded house out on Groton Island as seen through the birch and pine trees in this photo.Squam LakeHolderness, New Hampshire
kannafoot > April 15, 2009StuccoI don't have the exact date on this house, but the location and architecture is consistent with late 18th or early 19th century. There are two mill complexes within a quarter mile of the house, so it's highly likely that there's a connection.Farnum PikeSmithfield, Rhode Island
kannafoot > March 16, 200918th Century Mill ComplexThis is the John Hunt House and Mill, located on the East Providence and Seekonk line. The house was built in 1850, and its location makes it somewhat unique. Over the years, this property has been under the jurisdiction of the British Crown, Rehoboth, MA, Seekonk, MA, and East Providence, RI. While there have been mills on this property since the 1640s, the one in the background actually dates to the late 1800s.The dynamic range of the image was enhanced by a new plug-in I found for Photoshop Elements called Redynamix. The interface is extremely simple and it dramatically transforms the dynamic range of a single image as opposed to requiring multiple images like most HDR software. Expect to see much more done with this add-on since I really like the dynamic range effect it produces.John Hunt HouseEast Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > Octagonal HouseI found a new plug-in for Photoshop Elements called Redynamix. The beautiful dynamic range of this photo was produced using that plug-in. The difference between it and the original is astounding. Better still, it only requires one image, not multiples to produce the effect. Not bad for $16 USD.East Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > March 03, 2009Signs, Signs, Everywhere are SignsThis house has been in an ever decreasing state of decay for almost a decade. There will be several more shots of the house in the coming months since there's so much here to photograph. I thought I'd start with the Keep Out sign on the side gate. Looking at the state of the property, I've often wondered why the sign would even be necessary.North Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > February 14, 2009Lead WindowsI returned to the Eleazer Arnold House today to get a closeup shot of this beautiful 17th century style lead windows. The windows themselves were refurbished in the early 20th century, but are consistent with the style that has always been on this 1693 house.Eleazer Arnold HouseBuilt 1693Lincoln, Rhode Island
kannafoot > February 12, 2009Octagonal HouseThere are a number of octagonal houses in Rhode Island, a style popularized in 1849 by Orson Squire Fowler. The house depicted here was originally the bandstand at the Boyden Heights Amusement Park. The bandstand was built in 1900. The park closed in 1910, and in 1916 the bandstand was converted to a house. It's still in use today.East Providence, Rhode Island
