kannafoot > July 3, 2009Come Sail Away A boat house at India Point now gives sailing lessons, and here's a class out on the Seekonk River. Bold Point ParkEast Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > June 29, 2009Fishing Trawler Here's another kayaker heading up river to do some fishing. This guy was moving pretty good against a strong current. He might actually stand a chance against that now legendary 36-inch striper.Bold Point ParkEast Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > June 24, 2009Fishing VesselHere's a fisherman out on the Seekonk River in a kayak. I often wonder what a kayak fisherman would do if they hooked a 36 inch striper in the river.Bold Point ParkEast Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > June 20, 2009CruisingI swung by India Point on my way into work this morning and managed to capture some fishermen heading down the river. I liked the old pilings in the foreground, but I'm not crazy about the placement of the boat (not that I had much control over that at the time.)India Point ParkProvidence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > June 15, 2009CatamaranWell, I'm not happy with this one at all. The original was really washed out, but I'm not at all pleased with the sky and water processing. I've got to work on it some more, but I ran out of time tonight.Crescent ParkEast Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > June 8, 2009Gone Fishin'There were a number of folks out fishing off Crescent Park today. I would imagine the stripers are running right now, hence the number of boats. Crescent ParkEast Providence, Rhode Island
kannafoot > May 13, 2009WidowmakerThis is the Soviet submarine K-77, docked at Collier Point in Providence. It was used as a prop in the movie "K-19 Widowmaker". During its active career, the sub patrolled the Mediterranean and also spent some time down in the Caribbean following the US Fleet near the Virgin Islands. After the movie was filmed, the Soviet era Juliett class submarine was purchased by the USS Saratoga Museum Committee and was open to the public for several years. Unfortunately, the sub sank during a storm a few years ago. After it was raised, the museum group determined that the damage was too extensive and the sub would be sold for scrap. It's sad to see this relic of the Cold War sit in such disrepair. I pass this sub every morning on my way to work. The downside, though, is every time I see it I can imagine the Beatles singing, "We all live in a Russian submarine..."K-77 Soviet SubmarineProvidence, Rhode Island
